A Christmas Message

I love Christmas, especially now that I have a family of my own, but it wasn’t always that way for me. For many years I spent Christmas alone and it was sad and at times difficult, but small rituals of tradition which linked Christmas with my witchy life really helped me through and I continue to do them to this day.

As a witch, Yuletide is very important to me, it marks the welcoming of light following a period of darkness from the winter months. (Winter Solstice). It always falls on the shortest day of the year during December, Wednesday 21st December.

It’s a day of celebration and I will always light a white candle on this day for purity, for light and for thanks. (I call it the Yuletide Flame). It’s a way to give thanks to the year passed and to ask for a positive year ahead and its something you can all do at little cost and effort and I highly recommend it.

I always cast spells for myself and for others on this day too because the energy is so strong, witches from all over the world are casting and giving thanks and those voices allow the messages to be louder for the Universe to hear.

I really love the traditions that Christmas offers and although some feel that its too commercialised, I actually feel that its important to give something to those you care for or those you are recognising are part of your life in some way, after all its not about how much you spend, but the thought that counts and as long as you carry that sentiment, then its not too commercialised at all.

Its really easy to get swept away by the fast pace, deadlines, the celebrations around this time and to forget those who are in need of some reassurance and help. It could be that it’s you who needs that lift from someone else and if it is, remember to breathe, step back and that its only a month. Enjoy, embrace and remember to take moments for calm and reflection.
