Today is the New Moon and this is always a very special event in any witches calendar.
I always cast spells on this day, but I also use the days either side to cast too and I find that it very much depends on what your casting and particularly what your intentions are that will depend upon when is the right tome to cast your spell.
Many get confused with the Full Moon and whilst this is also a special day, I personally wouldn't cast the same spells, as each deliver different energies to assist when manifesting.
The New Moon is great for love spells and as the New Moon is formed, that is when spells with difficulty are worth casting, for example a want for reconciliation or trouble with a spouse and their infidelity, whereas the Full Moon is better for luck related matters.
Therefore to cast just before the New Moon would be to focus on matters of the heart, but for example something less difficult such as courage to tell them or they you, that they fancy you and finally, the day after the New Moon I reserve for blessings, matters where things are moving in the right direction and need protection or a further nudge.
There are of course exceptions to this rule, as everyone has something different they want/need to focus on when manifesting, but as a whole, I would say that these Moon phases are used in this way.
It is also worth reminding you that the New Moon is a great time to cleanse your crystals, so don't forget to place them on your windowsill or wherever you feel is safe but accessible for the Moon energy. Its a great way to cleanse and recharge them, ready to use with an extra push the next day and beyond.
